Chapter 34 - Legislator of the Year Award Procedures
34.01 ARTICLE I PURPOSE & ELIGIBILITY
34.011 The purpose of the award is to recognize state and federal legislators who either have a long record of support for library issues or take an important stand on library issues during a particular legislative session.
34.012 The award shall be given bi-annually, if and when there is a deserving recipient. It shall consist of a certificate or plaque suitable for display. It shall be presented by a member of the Library Development and Legislation Committee in the legislator's district, and and announced at the annual conference during the Division's membership meeting.
34.02 ARTICLE II NOMINATION PROCESS
34.021 Nominations for the award shall be solicited from OLA's membership and the OLA lobbyist.
34.022 An award committee, composed of members of the Library Development and Legislation Committee and the OLA lobbyist shall select the nominee.
34.023 The Library Development and Legislation Committee Chairperson or a member of the Committee shall present the name of the nominee, with justification for the award, to the OLA Executive Board for approval prior to the annual membership meeting.
34.03 ARTICLE III PUBLICITY AND RECORD-KEEPING
34.031 Announcements of the award recipient shall be publicized in the appropriate statewide, regional and national library news media, and in local media.
34.032 The Honors, Awards and Scholarships Committee shall keep a cumulative list of award recipients with the year in which the award was given.
