Chapter 7 - Legislative Network
7.01 Purpose
7.011 To foster communication between OLA members and elected officials concerning libraries and library needs.
7.02 Goals
7.021 To establish and maintain local personal contacts with elected officials concerning library issues.
7.022 To foster close working relationships between elected officials and OLA members.
7.023 To provide the ability of communicating with elected officials in a timely manner when necessary.
7.03 Network Coordinator
7.031 Is appointed by the President with the approval of the Executive Board.
7.032 Is responsible for the organization and work of the Network.
7.033 Serves as an ex-officio member of the Library Development and Legislation Committee.
7.034 Serves as a liaison between the Library Development and Legislation Committee and the Legislative Network.
7.04 Network Organizers
7.041 The state will be divided into eight geographic regions as follows: Multnomah County, Clackamas County, Washington County, Salem/Upper Willamette Valley, Linn/Benton/Lane Counties, Oregon Coast, Southern Oregon, Central and Eastern Oregon.
7.042 Each region will have a Network Organizer, appointed by the Network Coordinator whose responsibilities will include identifying OLA members to be contacts for elected officials in the region, providing ideas and assistance to facilitate contacts with elected officials, reviewing progress with contacts, reporting to the Network Coordinator.
