Oregon School Library Standards and Learning GoalsSchool library programs prepare students to become critical thinkers and engaged citizens in an ever-changing, information-rich society. A strong school library program centers around teaching information literacy and educational technology skills, fostering a love of reading, and emphasizing the importance of social responsibility and digital citizenship in an interconnected world. The Oregon School Library Standards and subsequent Grade-Level Learning Goals were developed to provide direction for teacher-librarians in instruction and programming, and they are essential to meeting the needs of the 21st-century learner. The Standards were adopted by the State Board of Education on January 22, 2015. The Oregon Department of Education points to the OASL Library Standards as a model for quality library instruction. The Standards and Learning Goals last updated 12/2023
